Ways To Calm A Crying Baby

A baby crying can be one of the hardest things for parents to deal with. The sound of a baby cry captures your attention in a way that few other sounds in the environment generally do.
Crying is the primary method of communication for babies to tell their parents and care givers their hunger, discomfort, pain, stress and even anger. In time, parents and care  givers learn to distinguish between the cries. When babies cry, it's important to be calm and find out why exactly they are crying or else frustration can set in.

It's natural  for parents and care givers to want to stop a baby's crying, however, if stopping the cry becomes the central focus, both baby, parents and care givers may miss important opportunities for learning about communication, feelings and themselves. Here are possible ways you can calm your crying baby.

~ Feed the baby, to check if hunger is the problem
~ Check to see if the diaper is dirty or uncomfortable and change it.
~ Make sure the diaper is not irritating the umbilical scab
~ check to see if the stomach aches
~ check  and Change the nipple of the feeding bottle if it's too small or too big
~ pick up your baby and hold him or her
~ Try giving the baby a bath
~ Gently swing the baby in a basket (wrap him or her up snugly in a blanket first )
~  Check for diaper rash and fix it.
~  Try singing to your baby, or play a recorded music
~ Rock the and cuddle him or her to your chest
~ Talk soothingly. Give a back or tummy rub, gently and warmly hum while you do it
~  Turn on the pump at the sink and see if water does the trick.
~ Do a trick of your own you know your baby better
~ Make shushing sounds, or create other white noise by running a hair dryer or fan (the inside             of the womb sounds like a constant pulsing whoosh).
~  Jiggle him gently (the rhythmic swaying resembles the movement of the womb).
Give him something to suck on—either a pacifier or a finger.
